Senior/Staff Accountant (Permanent)
Location: Midrand Country: South Africa Rate: R450k - R545k per annum
Senior Accountant (US-based Role)
Salary: Maximum salary of R 545,000 per annum, all-inclusive.
About Our Client:
Our client is seeking a qualified Senior Accountant for a US-based role at their Midrand location in South Africa. They specialize in managing a US-based property management business, which is a portfolio company. The company and its immediate parent company were launched recently and currently manage approximately 25 residential and mixed-use properties in New York. They expect significant portfolio expansion over the next 1-2 years and need additional finance personnel with expertise in real estate property management accounting to scale operations.
Requirements:
- Degree in accounting, finance, or real estate management.
- Accounting qualification or license (ie. SAIPA, CIMA, US CPA) would be beneficial
- 2-4 years of professional experience in real estate management.
- Proficiency in English is essential.
- Must have flexible working hours due to the US time difference.
- Experience using property management software (eg Yardi, Rent Café, ResMan, TenantCloud, Nightsbridge, AppFolio, Entrata, and RealPage) is highly beneficial.
Responsibilities:
- Post monthly tenant charges, including rent, concessions, and triple net reimbursements.
- Reconcile property operating and security deposit bank accounts.
- Determine and record operating expense accruals.
- Record rent adjustments, such as vacancy loss and gain/loss to market.
- Calculate property management fees and remit payments.
- Update budget-to-actual analysis and provide commentary on variances.
- Produce financial reporting packages for property owners and clients.
- Maintain tracking of responsibilities (eg, update financial close calendar).
- Monitor rent receipts and provide collection reports to property managers.
- Review property payables and remit payments to vendors.
- Coordinate leasing activities for accurate rent roll.
- Update accounting system for leases, adjustments, etc.
- Assist property managers with leasing and work orders.
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status.
- Assist with various financial reporting and analysis tasks.
- Assist with annual US tax filing processes.
