Postdoctoral Associate -Laboratory of Immune Cell Epigenetics and Signaling, The Rockefeller Univ. (Full Time)

Location: New York New York Country: United States of America

Job Description:

Postdoctoral Associate in the Laboratory of Immune Cell Epigenetics and Signaling at The Rockefeller University

We seek a Postdoctoral Associate to join the Laboratory of Immune Cell Epigenetics and Signaling at The Rockefeller University. Our lab studies the epigenetic mechanism of cellular and organismal adaptation to viruses.

Our studies focus on three major topics:
1) the role of viral mimicry of the host epigenetic regulators in nonpathogenic and pathogenetic virus-driven changes of host physiology
2) the epigenetic mechanism of cell susceptibility and tolerance to virus infection;
3) the role of nuclear viral proteins in virus-host adaptation and virus evolution. We seek highly motivated and talented scientists, especially those who are interested in using quantitative and systems biology approaches to solve complex biological problems.

The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in a relevant research area such as molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry and has a strong track record of accomplishment. Prior experience with virology would be welcome but is not required. The applicant should have a keen interest in the biology of host-pathogen interaction and epigenetics. Please see our website for more information about the research in the Tarakhovsky laboratory.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

Thorough working knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, or biochemistry.
Experience in several molecular techniques ranging from FACS to ChIP-seq.
The candidate should be scientifically motivated, detail-oriented, capable of independently conceiving, conducting and critically analysing their own research.
Consistent track record of academic accomplishments (eg, peer-reviewed publications and/or patents).
Effective written and oral communication skills.
PhD degree in Immunology, Molecular biology, Genetics, or Biochemistry is required.

Apply: Send your CV, cover letter noting your scientific interest, and 3 letters of reference to Dr. Alexander Tarakhovsky. Please include in the Subject Line: Application for Postdoctoral Opportunity - Virology, Immunology and Epigenetics.

The Rockefeller University is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, status as a protected veteran, or other legally protected class.
