Associate - Unix Specialist - Leading Investment Bank (Permanent)

Unix Specialist - Unix, Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, IBM, Oracle VM, VMWare, Oracle Solaris, Shell Scripting

I am looking for a Unix specialist to join my client who is a leading investment bank based in London. You will be joining the Unix team which are responsible for supporting Unix and Linux environments within the bank's EMEA region. You'll be responsible for day-to-day activities and also support requirements in the longer term including refresh, upgrade, and replacement projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Unix & Linux environments, including Oracle VM, VMware, Infoblox & Oracle Solaris.
  • Resolve incidents within SLA targets and manage problem procedures.
  • Monitor system health using tools like Splunk, Prometheus, Opsview.
  • Design, procure, and commission new/upgraded platforms.
  • Provide consultancy and support to other teams.
  • Ensure environments meet security and compliance standards.
  • Implement automation with Ansible.
  • Ensure resilience and recovery provisions align with DR plan.
  • Work shifts Mon to Fri, cover out-of-hours support.

Essential Skills:

  • Red Hat Linux.
  • Shell Scripting.
  • Oracle Solaris administration experience.
  • IBM Power with AIX or IBM administration
  • Linux containers and orchestration.
  • Experience in team and solo project work.
  • Ability to make autonomous decisions and stay motivated.

Desirable Skills:

  • Proficiency with Ansible and Ansible Automation Platform.
  • DNS administration with Bind and/or Infoblox.
  • Squid web Proxy administration.
  • VMware and Oracle VM proficiency.
  • Experience with SAN and advanced storage systems.

This is a Full time position offering a salary of up to £85k plus bonus and benefits. You will need to go into the office 3 days a week in central London.
