Data Architect (SC Cleared) (Contract)
Location: Remote/London Country: UK Rate: £600 per day (Inside IR35)
 

Valid SC Clearance required

Responsible for all aspects of design, delivery, and continuous improvement of Enterprise data solutions for database services, including but not limited to:

  • Lead the planning, design, implementation and post-implementation tasks for the organisation's Enterprise Data solutions comprising SQL and NoSQL technologies, working closely with SQL and Infrastructure team members
  • Working with data scientists managing complex datasets and AI systems
  • Working with Cloud platforms eg Azure & AWS and the cloud technology stack including Postgresql flexible server, MS Azure SQL database, Aurora and Redshift.
  • Create policies and procedures for database security to ensure security standards are met throughout a system or service life cycle.
  • Provide technical leadership for database security initiatives, working closely with security colleagues and ensuring that security remains a primary objective for ICT. Keeping systems up-to-date and resistant to emerging threats

Skills

  • High level of expertise as a DBA in the design, implementation and administration of large datasets, including: performance tuning, database clustering, data replication and backups
  • Strong technical background in Microsoft SQL Databases, Microsoft Reporting
  • Tools (SSRS, PowerBI) and Microsoft data extraction methods (SSIS).
  • Expert knowledge/skills in PostgreSQL administration (knowledge of
  • MSSQL/MariaDB) as well as the ability to work across a range of technologies
  • Database clustering: HA, and distributed active/active system
  • Fluent in at least one development languages eg, Python, R, Powershell, PL/SQL
  • Knowledge of NoSQL DB's, eg MongoDB, Cosmos DB and Elastic
  • Good knowledge of SQL Data Warehouses and have (ideally) experience working with multi-dimensional data
  • Experience with cloud-based database service platforms ie Demonstrate knowledge of cloud PaaS SQL, DBaaS Services and the cloud technology stack including Postgresql flexible server, MS Azure SQL database, Aurora and Redshift
  • Experience in maintaining ETL pipelines and supporting large scale data infra projects
