Procurement Manager - Media - London/REMOTE (Contract)

Procurement - Manager - Content Management - Project Management - Sourcing - Production

Our client, a leading global publishing company is currently seeking a Procurement Manager based in London (FLEX REMOTE/OFFICE 2-3 days per week) working within the Content Management team.

As a key member of the Procurement Organisation you will support Content Management (CM) sourcing and procurement strategies within the business, across all business units globally.

Content Management covers Content Development, Creation and Production including Editorial, Digital Content, Accessibility, Translation Services, Project Management and Quality Services.

The main responsibilities of the role include supporting the development and execution of the strategic sourcing direction in support of the business, benchmarking supplier pricing and conducting market analysis in identifying opportunities for Pearson to exploit. Additionally, the incumbent will need to carry out contract analysis and price negotiations, as well as define support procurement strategies to ensure the long term, cost-effective supply of products/services.

The role will assist in providing support for the end-to-end management of these services including sourcing, bid process, negotiation, contracts, as well as managing the vendor relationships in collaboration with internal business partners, working closely with the Content Service Centre and the Content teams in the various verticals in the management of the procurement of a broad range of Content Management products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement commodity strategies
  • Collaborate with key business partners to define strategic initiatives, proactively identify potential sourcing opportunities.
  • Conduct market analysis and benchmarking of Pearson supplier's contracts and pricing.
  • Source/develop and manage a pool of approved commodity suppliers that are able to meet the service and quality levels of the business
  • Provide analysis and data metrics on existing and potential new vendors to support and inform new strategies.
  • Coordinate commodity sourcing and procurement of products/services on a regional and global basis, providing guidance and advice on all negotiations with suppliers.

Key Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Experience in managing Content Commodity.
  • Proven track record, in cost reduction, contract negotiation and international sourcing
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Demonstrates strategic and conceptual capabilities, combined with creative thinking and an international perspective.
  • Strong analytical skills and abilities to undertake research when required.
  • Understanding of the commercial environment, how organizations source, deploy and manage external partners.
  • Understanding of costs, prices, savings, and business financial management.
  • Understanding of contract management, contract law and legal issues.
  • Understanding of publishing/book production processes
  • Has a high level of credibility and highly versatile and comfortable in dealing at all levels.
  • A demonstrable record of the highest standards of personal and business integrity is a must.
  • Self-starter with a high energy level and team focus, a "can do" attitude is essential.
  • Ability to work effectively with others in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to foster instrumental relationships and work effectively with others, obtaining alignment, building relationships and exploiting group's strengths.

Desirable

  • Ability to work under pressure to deadlines.
  • Professional certifications preferable - CPP, CPM or CIPS designation.
